Exclusive: Hugh Laurie Clears Up Rumors About the End of House
Hugh Laurie A New York newspaper alleged this week that Hugh Laurie had opted to end the run of Fox's House because he was tired of the show. The story, though, was based on old quotes from Laurie, given long before Fox announced the end of the show. In this exclusive statement, Laurie responds to the story:
"For anyone who's interested, I'd like to correct some naughty misrepresentations of the circumstances surrounding the end of the TV show House.
Some newspapers, obviously dissatisfied by the sincere statement of fact and feeling that we released last week, have said that "the truth" — modern journalistic slang for "not even remotely the truth but it sounds creepy so I'll go with it" — behind the decision was that I was sick of going to work. The "evidence" (another technical term) for this was a remark I made five years ago about another subject, bent into an entirely different shape.
Let me state, publicly and unequivocally, that I love my job, and work much harder at it than most journalists work at theirs. As described in the press release, we wanted to preserve some of the character's mystique. We never wanted to out-stay our welcome. Very possibly, we could have continued with a re-worked formula — House gets a job in a shoe shop and high jinks ensue — but none of us wanted that. We wanted to keep the band together and go out with as much dignity as we could muster.
That wish has not been fulfilled by this undignified and petty rebuttal, I know, but it had to be said nonetheless. The record should be put straight, even if it's a record nobody wants to hear.

What’s up with your favorite past House MD co-stars?
With the series finale set for May 21st, and speculation abounding about how the show will end, here is a look at what some of our favorite former HOUSE MD cast members are doing these days.
Olivia Wilde (Dr. Remy “Thirteen” Hadley)
As you know, Olivia left House this season to focus on her movie career. One movie in the works is a comedy called Burt Wonderstone, also starring Steve Carell and Jim Carrey. Carell plays the title character who is a Vegas magician knocked from his perch by a rival (Carrey). “The Words” with Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana is due out this year. “In Time” with Justin Timberlake is now out on Blu-Ray.
On her love life, which always seems to garner a lot of attention, Olivia is enjoying time with new boyfriend Jason Sudeikis (SNL). They were most recently seen together at a party at Top of the Standard in NYC, per US Magazine. She is also in the March issue of Town and Country Magazine (and on the cover) talking about her divorce, meeting George Clooney, and when she knew she wanted to be an actress. She also describes Hugh Laurie as a “big influence.”
Sources say that Olivia is scheduled to appear in the HOUSE MD finale. On Twitter, Olivia said "House lovers, it's the end of an era. Shows like that don't happen, well, ever. I'm honored to have been a part of such a brilliant story."
Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Lisa Cuddy)
After leaving HOUSE MD prior to the start of the eighth season, Lisa joined the cast of “The Good Wife” as Celeste Serano in a multi-episode arc. She also appeared on an episode of “American Dad!” as the voice of Shari.
There are rumors that Lisa Edelstein will come back for the final episode of HOUSE MD, but those are not confirmed. On March 3, the actress will appear in a Lifetime Television drama “Blue-Eyed Butcher” based on the real-life story of the 2004 murder trial of Susan Write who was accused of tying her husband to a bed and stabbing him 193 times. Lisa will play Harris County prosecutor Kelly Siegler.
Amber Tamblyn (Dr. Martha M. Masters PhD)
Amber was just on the show for a short time, “replacing” Thirteen on Dr. House’s team of doctors. Just prior to joining the television show, she appeared as Megan McBride in the movie “127 Hours” with James Franco, based on the experience of Aron Ralston who became trapped in a boulder in an isolated canyon in Utah.
After leaving HOUSE in April 2011, she became engaged to long-time boyfriend, actor David Cross in August.
Amber will guest star on the sketch comedy show “Portlandia” which airs on IFC Fridays at 10/9C and is a “romanticized and dreamy rendering of Portland, OR.” She will play a bookstore intern on Season Six episode “Cat Nap.”
Jennifer Morrison (Dr. Allison Cameron)
Jennifer is currently on “Once Upon a Time” as Emma Swan with Ginnifer Goodwin. She plays a bail bonds collector whose biological son claims she is the missing daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming. In 2010, she was “Zoey Pierson”, an architecture nerd – and Ted’s love interest, on “How I Met Your Mother.”
In the movies, Jennifer portrayed Tess Conlon in the Movie “Warrior” starring Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, and Nick Nolte. The movie, released in September 2011, was described as a “heartbreaking and emotionally satisfying” story about two estranged brothers entering an MMA tournament. It was released on Blu-ray in December.
Jenna Mullins of E Online has listed several “dream” scenarios for the final episode, one of which reforms the original HOUSE MD team of doctors, including Dr. Cameron. But we’ll have to wait and see on that one.
Kal Penn (Dr. Lawrence Kutner)
Since Kal resigned from the post that took him away from HOUSE MD, he has been appearing on the comedy “How I Met Your Mother” as Kevin, the psychiatrist boyfriend of Robin. Most recently, Kal has joined the cast of “Prairie Dogs”, a comedy pilot being developed for ABC by Jackie and Jeff Filgo. The show follows an uncool cubicle worker named Neil who is the victim of identity theft.
Kal’s recent movie “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas” is now available on Blu-ray.
Anne Dudek (Dr. Amber Volakis)
Anne is another actress who has appeared on “How I Met Your Mother,” interestingly enough. But of course her role as Amber “the cut-throat bitch” on HOUSE is how we remember her best. After leaving the show, she appeared in recurring roles on “Mad Men”, as neighbor Francine Hanson, and on HBO’s “Big Love” as Lura Grant. She also was caste in one episode of “Castle” as Emma Carnes.
Currently, she is on the cast of Covert Affairs on USA Network, portraying Danielle Brooks, the older sister of Anne Catherine “Annie” Walker. It began its third season in September 2011. She and husband Matthew Heller are expecting their second child this month. Son Akiva was born in December 2008.

Пишут, что Фокс настолько впечатлился новой драмой Сазерленда "Touch", что поставил ее на четверг вместо "Костей", где она будет идти в паре с "Американским идолом". А "Кости" со 2 апреля составят пару "Хаузу" в понедельник ( 8 часов - "Кости", 9 часов - "Хауз").
