Laurie thinks House end in sight

Hugh Laurie has said that the upcoming series of his medical drama 'House' is likely to be his last.

Laurie begins filming the eighth series this summer and told the Radio Times that "the end of that season, right now, looks like the end of the show".

Asked if he wanted the show to end, Laurie said of his contract: "Well, that's as far as they've got me for."

In other 'House' news, Deadline.com reports that Laurie's co-stars Robert Sean Leonard (Dr James Wilson) and Omar Epps (Dr Eric Foreman) have agreed deals to return for the eighth season, while Lisa Edelstein (Dr Lisa Cuddy) is also expected to return in a new deal.

Laurie has just released his debut album of blues covers, 'Let Them Talk'.

Comme nous vous le relations récemment, la FOX a demandé que les comédiens principaux acceptent de revoir leurs prétentions salariales à la baisse, à l'exception d'Hugh Laurie. Ce dernier touche 400.000 dollars par épisode de Dr House, tandis que ses collègues avaient droit à 175.000 billets verts par tournage.

Selon TV Line, il semble que les négociations entre la FOX et les Studios Universal Media ont bien avancé, puisqu'Omar Epps (Foreman) et Robert Sean Leonard (Wilson) sont assurés de vivre la belle mort de cette série superstar.

Reste le cas Lisa Edelstein. L'actrice prend son temps et semble réfléchir sérieusement. TVLine affirme que l'affaire devrait être réglée bientôt, son contrat pour la suite de Dr House n'aurait pas été signé en raison de l'absence de la jeune femme, en vacances à l'étranger. Néanmoins, on imagine qu'Edelstein, dont le rôle s'est considérablement épaissi au fil des ans, estime que son talent mérite mieux qu'une baisse de salaire, ou moins d'apparitions dans la saison 8 (qui pourrait en prime être raccourcie), comme la FOX l'a proposé.

Une façon pour Lisa Edelstein de faire monter les enchères ? Si c'est le cas, il n'est pas sûr que cela impressionne la chaîne, qui a accusé des audiences en baisse avec la saison 7 Outre-Atlantique...

TVLine вроде перепечатал статью с Deadline.com, но они вроде как партнеры.

все сходятся к этому мнению. думаю, что в противном случае это бы все таки комментировали. он не иголка в стогу.

можно по разному к этому относиться - и к ее согласию, и к вообще обстоятельствам вокруг ее контракта и будущего (не обязательно негативным, кстати), - но она будет играть. она четко выразила свою заинтересованность в этой работе.

Fox Renews House For Season 8

The doctors are in… some of them at least.

After lengthy talks, Fox has closed a deal with producer Universal to bring House back for an eighth and likely final season.

“Over the past seven seasons, House has redefined the medical drama and has given us one of television’s most compelling and iconic characters,” said Fox president Kevin Reilly in a statement. “From the producers to the incredible writers to the unbelievably talented cast and crew, the House team is fearless in its creativity and I can’t wait to see what they have in store next year.”

Curiously, Fox’s press release makes no mention of who from the cast will be returning for season 8. As Deadline first reported Monday night, original castmembers Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps have inked new deals, but it’s unclear where things stand with Lisa Edelstein and Jesse Spencer. (Hugh Laurie, Olivia Wilde and Peter Jaconson were already under contract for an eighth season.)

After months of negotiations and a string of deadlines that came and went, Fox has closed a deal with Universal Media Studios to bring House for an eighth season, which is expected to be the medical drama's last. House creator/executive producer David Shore's does not have a deal beyond this season yet but one is underway and he is fully expected to return and finish the series. Also returning is the cast, including Hugh Laurie, who has one more year on his 3-year contract, co-stars Robert Sean Leonard and Omar Epps, who just closed their deals, and Lisa Edlestein, who is also expected to come back. All senior writers on the show will be back too.

Sticking point in the negotiations was the show's license fee, which Fox had been pushing to lower by almost 20% to $5 million per episode, something that was going to put pressure on UMS to cut the budget of the series, including above-the-line costs. I hear the final agreement is for a license fee very close to the $5 million Fox had been seeking. As part of its cost-cutting measures, UMS had gone to the 3 actors whose deals were up this season - Leonard, Edelstein and Epps - asking them to take salary cuts on the $175,000 an episode they had been making for next season. UMS had been partially successful as I hear Leonard will be returning at his old salary, while the other 2 will be taking a modest pay cut.

For years, House was Fox's highest-rated scripted show.
